Can anyone please tell me how to disable the TVGOS on this machine? Is it even possible? My TVGOS never loads, or if it does, it loses it's data every other day, so I only use manual timer recordings anyway. I want it disabled so I don't have to deal with the TVGOS constantly making that seeking noise and changing channels when the machine is off. Can anyone help, please?

There is a thread on this subject in the DVD recorders forum at AVS forum. Look for a thread heading that includes the word Eureka.

If you replace its hard drive with another ( requires a special remote and service dvd disk ) and do not copy what is on the original to the new hard drive, it will not have that function any more.
I have been trying to copy that file from my working original Pioneer hard drive so that it can be made available to anyone who has had a drive go bad so they can restore that function should they want it. It needs to done under a Linux operating system so this has not been easy. -
Thanks for the replies. I'll check out AVS, frobozz.
As for replacing the drive, bit more then I'd like to get into, but thank you trhouse for the comment. A shame they can't update the firmware so it allows the option not to use the TVGOS anymore. That'd be great. -
Just was over at AVS and it seems Pioneer has offered to exhange the old model with the problematic TVGOS for a new model that no longer has the TVGOS. That really seems too good to be true. Anyone here try and have any luck?
