  1. I was just wondering when recording a laserdisk with a dvd recorder if I needed a new dvd for every side of the laserdisk or can I pause and then continue with the recording after I turn over the disk?

  2. Yes Most |DVD Recorders can Pause. But it also depends on the length of the Film as well.

I guess you don't have a LD player that plays both sides of the LaserDisc. Since the max. time per side on a CLV Laser is 60 min. (CAV is 30) you can easily record two-sided discs using the SP (2 Hour) mode. Record side one, pause, flip disc, record side two. Use the S-VHS output of the LD player if availlable.

  4. Don't LD player has macrovision or similiar anti-copy scheme ?

  5. Laserdisc has no copy protection.

Laserdisc side changes can be edited out and joined seamlessly by loading the DVD transfer recording into your computer, then trimming with a frame accurate MPEG2 editor like Womble MPEG-VCR or MPEG Video Wizard. The resulting MPG file can then be authored into a new finished DVD after that.

  6. Cool.
Also. If I wanted to record the audio commentaries and such would I have to switch on the commentary on the laser and then record?
I got tired of waiting for a SE DVD of a sertain movie so I bought the SE laserdisk so I can get the special features and put them on a DVD. The movie is out on DVD but I wanted the audio commentaries and other special features to put there with it.
