    Hi!

If i have a divx movie ripped in US lets say in format NTSC. If i convert it to dvd and put pal as standard does the movie "jump" a bit? Sometimes i can see the movie jump a bit. Do you think that the "jump/flicker" disapear if i convert to ntsc instead of pal??

I use DivxToDvd or WinAvi. Any other good convert proggs??

That would depend on how you convert it. DivxtoDVD has a pretty lousy frame compensation system. It just adds dupe frames, so it looks really jumpy.

Basically, there's no reason to convert from NTSC to PAL, as PAL equipment handles NTSC material just fine.
Jump/Flicker mostly comes from bad frame rate conversions. Avoid if possible.

Depends on the original framerate (23.976 or 29.97fps), which you haven't given us, and how you're converting it (don't use all-in-one apps if you want quality).

If it is NTSC already, there's no conversion needed to make it NTSC, is there?
Just stick to the same TV system as the source thruout the processing, and you'll be fine.

ConvertXtoDVD improves upon DivxtoDVD by using pulldown for framerate changes, so the results are much smoother, however I have to agree with Mats - why change if you don't have to.

    The ultimate conversion method

FitCD -> Avisynth -> multipass VBR video encoding with ProCoder or CCE -> AC3 audio encoding with Sound Forge -> authoring with DLP 2.1 or DVDWS2

10 minutes to set up, 4 hours to complete at 3+1 passes in CCE or a little faster with 2-pass VBR in ProCoder. Time includes basic menu build as well.

ConvertXtoDVD. Does it all without you having to learn anything beyond a couple of buttons.
