  1. I am using AutoGK, and converting a DVD to DivX. I am using DivX codec version 5.02. What's the best CLI to use, so i can use it on my Archos video player. The screen size is 160x120. Also, please include the best keyframe rate, too. thanx!

CLI as in Command Line Interface? Sounds like you are talking about something else. Oh yeah, DivX 5.x did let you add params like that. The only true cli divx would be dr. divx 2. The cli in DivX VfW doesn't count since you don't actually enter it at the command line.

If you want to play around with the codec settings, then I don't think AutoGK is the right app.

If you want fine tuning and lots of control, try VirtualDub or VD Mod. VDM can accept VOBs directly. Or you could use VOB2MPG to convert the whole DVD video to one giant MPEG and drop it into VDM. Still, AutoGK works well.

For keyframe rate, it depends on what you want to do with the file. The default keyframe rate on the Xvid codec and Divx is every 300 frames. This is fine as long as you don't want to do frame accurate editing after encoding. I use DV for that as every frame is a keyframe.

I use FairUse Wizard for DVD to Xvid conversion most of the time, mainly because it's easy and the quality is good enough for occasional play on my laptop for long trips. With FairUse, you just rip with a program like DVD Fab Decrypter, then let FairUse do the rest. I haven't tried it with a smaller framesize.
