  1. Hi,
I was wondering why I cannot log into the following sites using Internet Explorer 6.0 on my laptop.
    www.friendster.com
    www.blockbuster.com

I have my privacy settings on medium with cookies enabled. When I use my laptop, I cannot access these sites. But if I use Mozilla, it works fine. Is something wrong with my IE? When I use the same IE version 6.0 with my desktop with the same settings on medium privacy, I can access these two sites fine. Its when I use my Toshiba laptop, using IE (not Mozilla), I cannot log in. There is no error message, just doesnt let me log in.

    jyeh74,

I can tell you what I could find out, but I don't know if it will fix your problem or not.

Both of the sites you mention use javascript functions for logging in, so it's reasonable to assume that you are having a problem with javascript. Doing a quick scan with google, there seems to be a pattern on the internet of people complaining about problems with java/javascript in their IE6 browser. Ininstalling the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine, and then installing Sun Java appears to be working for many of them. Even microsoft appears to recommend it, at least if you're having problems.

If you're interested in giving it a try, here's a link to a tutorial on removing the MS JVM, and here's a link to the Sun Java download and installation tutorial.

  3. vegas bud,

but the weird thing is that i can log into other sites that require you to sign in
    www.citicards.com
    gmail.google.com
    www.bankofamerica.com
    www.myspace.com

only these two dont let me (using IE 6.0 and IE 7.0) - Mozilla Foxfire works however. I just want to understand why IE 6 is picky about these two sites...and NO, I do not have them on restricted or blocked sites. I have clear cookies and deleted offline files too!
