I am trying to serve HDV imagery to my networked DVD player, a Zensonic Z500. These video files are MPGs with a constant bit rate of 25MB/s, which is quite high. I am using Twonkyvision as my media server software. Video content is located on a Raid 0 performance array. I am getting the occasional stutter, which corresponds spikes in networking demand. They appear to occur about every 45 sec. Here is a screenshot.
I have turned off all of the background processes, firewall, virus, etc. I believe it's down to 18 processes. It appears that something is going on within XP that causes this surge in network activity and hence the dropped frames. I have verified that the increase in activity corresponds with theses "stutters".
Any ideas on how to manually disable these background activities and only permit the media serving? Thanks in advance.

The first thing I'd do is check out Task Manager and see which process is spiking in either CPU or Memory utilization when the 'hiccups' occur.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
Thanks for the reply. Tried that. Only process showing any activity was Explorer.exe. Also ended that process bringing down the total to only 15. Still the occasional stutter.

I'd try to take out more processes - as many as possible. Also, in Task Manager, look under Performance and Networking tabs for spikes. OYou will probably get an initial one you'll get in the Performance field. Post any others you see in either screen corresponding to the freezes you're getting.
Maybe it's time to whip out Wireshark.
