Updating my recorder to 16x

ok, my problem is:

i've bought a recorder that record until 8x I believe,
now recently I've bought a pack of 50 DVDs from Memorex and I can't use them in my DVD recorder, it works fine in my pc recorder, but i use them more in my TV recorder.

Unfortunately when I've bought the pack I haven't notice that, and I haven't saw a little papaer too, and that paper says :

" Updating your drives and recorders for 16x DVD+R Discs: The firmware upgrade requiers downloading software from the Internet onto your computer for computer drives or onto a CD/DVD for home DVD+R Recorder. (...) The firmware upgrade will allow recording onto DVD+R but will not increase the speed of the drive. For more information about this issue please visit www.memorex.com/service_support/faq.php"

So my main question is: where can i get this firmware update.

P.S. My recorder is a "RW-007" from AG electronics.

A better question would be: does such a firmware update exist?

A bit of research on Google shows that AG Electronics does not have a website, and the only online place that carries AG players/recorders is a Portuguese site, which is expected. So your chances of an update is pretty slim.
