I've been using nero 5.5 for years now, and it works great with my aging pioneer A06. Any idea if nero 5.5 would work with any of the current DVD writers on the market? It's been such a reliable workhorse; I'd hate to have to abandon it. Thanks!

It might work with newer drives but you would be limited on the speed. I know when I upgraded my Burner a few years ago I was using 5.5 and had a newer Burner that was suppose to be 16x, but Nero would only burn at 8x. I had to upgrade to Version 6 to get the full Speed burns.

My favorite was Nero 5.5 also. But it wouldn't work at all with my newer burners, so I finally gave up and went to 6.6. Nero 6.3 is still available on the Nero site also. The only thing I use Nero for is burning. The rest I would rather just delete.

  4. I still run 5.5 too! LOL But then again I'm still using a 2.4X from Memorex (Ricoh) burner. My problem is the firmware on my burner only allows me to go to 4x media but I still have a few hundred discs I bought at Best Buy in 2003 (anybody know a work around?).
Probably wait till Vista settles in a bit and then upgrade the whole computer, drives, ect. I have read some bad things about the latest "bloated" versions of Nero. The 5.5 is short but sweet and I will miss it too when I finally have to let go. Damn technology

I'll install 5.5 and let you know (NEC 3540, 3550 and LG GSA-10L all 16x burners)....too bad this NeroLite program is not too supported as it looked like it had potential in allowing you to create a stripped down Nero 6 or 7 installation....I had it working sort of but it wiped out my registry.

Nero lite still requires you to install Nero 6 or Nero 7 retail in order to create a lite-version. In my opinion the lite-version created(when it actually works) is too lite for a software package you paid hard earned money for to begin with.
