    Hi,

Please help with an avi file.

When I play the file with MPC or Nero, the sound is fine but when I try to play it with VertualDub, it gives the error message: No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format (source format tag 2000).

What does this mean? Thank you!

2000 means AC3. MPC has a built in AC3 decoder, same goes for nero. Fact is that they are also both directshow and VDub requires an ACM decompressor. Installing fccHandler's AC3 ACM codec should sort it.
