Hi all......im hoping someone might be able to shed some light on my little problem.

I am backing up an AVI file onto DVD. I have converted it with Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/Divx/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro and the resulting file is of good qaulity and plays back pefectly on my computer

The only problem is that when burnt to a Verbatim DVD disk and played back on my pioneer stand alone DVD player the sound keeps cutting in and out, or is jumping for lack of a better word, whilst the video is still of good quality.

The DVD files have been burnt to disc with both the Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/Divx/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Pro internal burning program and with Nero7 with the same result.

I have successfuly backed up other avi files without this problem and am dumb founded why this has happened. I am assuming that its not a codec problem by the fact that the converted DVD file plays back ok on my computer. I am also assumming that the DVD media is not the problem as it hasn't been a problem in the past.

Any light that can be shed on this problem would be appreciated.

First, you are not actually "backing up" the file to DVD. You are converting and avi to DVD format. If you are backing it up to dvd, then you would just burn it as data.

Second, is the file playing fine on the pc before or after the conversion (or both)?

I would expect it is an issue with your conversion process. Possibly a corrupt file, something in the file is causing your software to choke, or audio output does not meet dvd spec.

There is a small chance it is media, but media issues usually also result in choppy video.
