I've tried ATI's wonder pro and wonder elite cards and neither were good enough. There was lag in the audio and video and the quality of the video was not even close to the quality you see on TV.

What is the best method/ hardware to capture game play videos?

I've spent the most of August finding the best solution and I really appreciate if anyone can help me. Thank you.

Try a settop dvd recorder. That should work just fine.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

roma_turok, I've heard of Fraps before but I've never given it a try. Unfortunately I returned the ATI Wonder Elite I've used before so I can't test it now.

yoda313, so all I do is connect it with a ps2 and start recording while I play games on my TV? I've never thought of using dvd recorders. I've been trying to do everything on the computer (using a video capture card to play my ps2 on the computer and letting some software record my work. From what i've seen, good dvd recorders cost more than a video capture card. $200 is my limit.

Is there a way to connect my ps2 on the PC monitor and have a program like Fraps do the recording?

You need a direct connection to a TV to get fast response. The computer capture process will add delay making game play impossible.

You need to feed the PS2 to the TV directly and split to the DVD recorder. Some TV sets have video out that can be used to feed the DVD recorder or capture card.

If your TV doesn't have a composite video out, you can split the PS2 Yellow-red-white cable with a Video Distribution Amp available at Radio Shack for about $45. Looks like this

FRaps works the best for game action capture. Just obey the copyright broadcast rules....

Nothing will work for you. Because of how digital processing works, every card and recorder will have a delay. The ATI card you were using was fine.

If you want to record yourself playing a game, split the signal. one goes directly to the tv, one goes into the recording device. That's the only way to get it to work.
