Okay, I know the consensus here is that kvcd and it's variants are redundant. Accepted, but I'm curious, on another forum I've heard people talking about this new? format called KA-VCD. The resulting quality is supposed to be an improvement over DVD to kvcd. Any one know anything at all about this format?

All I see about it are some torrent clips that claim to be encoded using its settings. Resolution is listed as 528x336, its mpeg1, and they are sized to fit on 1 CDR. Its obviously using low bitrates and so I'm sure it uses a customized GOP matrix.

There's a list of the templates. It seems it falls between their "general purpose" and "low to medium action" templates so I guess its trying to squeeze somewhere around 100-110 mins per Cdr. -
It's just another self-named or silly-named non-format. How to squish more video onto a disc while sacrificing quality and compatibility, as usual.

I'd sure like to locate that GOP matrix template.
