    Hay Guys
I just came home from a visit to my parents, they own a CRT sony.
    KVDA32M36

They also have a SD set top here and I noticed that the picture seems to be... well like a interlace field order issue but only on the edges of images..

    It looks like moving lines
also like pixelation maybe problem with colour gradients
in laymen terms, its nearly like ghosting in analog but with lines and pixelation through the ghost

    any insight?
I might try to reproduce the effect in photoshop and post an image..

Normal? well does anyone know what causes it or what this effect is called. I'd like to find out more about it. To be honest I really suprised at that because it looks terrible.. any fine detail on images looks like this, I first notice it when they were watching a gardening show and it had a close up of some flowers. all the detail in the flower was taken over by this pixelation interlace line scrolling noise.. and i thought, that cannot be right?

I know of a similar effect if you try to use natural colours in premiere, for example you create a title in photoshop and use it in footage you burn straight to dvd without changing the colour range to suit tv's. But this on everything, text, images, ads, etc

Please help me find out whats happening..

What do you mean "almost"? Is this a direct screen cap?

Well the problem is the display on the television screen re-OP, so these samples are one i have made from photoshop. they represent about 98% of what I'm actually seeing. these edges/lines and noise seem to move even on static images.

  8. There's an option in the menu of most sony TVs called "VM" or "Edge Enhancement" or "Vertical Movement/Modulation".

Try fooling around with that setting.
