"The company's 100-Gbyte prototype disc uses four 25-Gbyte layers" and that on a single side !
I'm impressed. Now make it cheap. One side 100GB is fine. -
Yet they can't press a dual layer Blu-Ray Movie?
For the love of God, use hub/core labels on your Recordable Discs! -
Still not enough space to put a full season of your favorite TV show in HD on one disc. For SD DVD, quite possibly. I hate multiple discs, especially 6-7 discs per season. Maybe when Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD) arrives we will have enough space.

100 GB would get you
~7.4 hours of DV or HDV
~10 hours MPeg2 HD @ 19 Mbps
~24 hours AVC HD @ 8 Mbps
~38 hours of SD DVD @ 5 Mbps VBR -
Imagine the data loss when theres a scratch on a portion of the disc which is unreadable...

Why would I want to post pictures of scratched Audio CDs? Would it make a difference? Now that I think about it it may have '86. Not really sure, just know I learned my lesson back then.

it's still a problem burning on 2 layers...imagine burning on 4.....
