I know it is not ideal but I need to make a .flv file into something I can bring into iMovie. I have ffmpegX but can't seem to make it happen. Any ideas? I'm a bit novice.

You could try a command such as this in the Terminal. Edit this line accordingly depending on the location of ffmpegX and change the username and source file name. (note this command is a single line)

    Code:
    /Applications/ffmpegX.app/Contents/Resources/ffmpeg -i /Users/yourname/Desktop/source.flv -target ntsc-dv -r '30000/1001' -acodec pcm_s16le -ar 48000 -ab 448 /Users/yourname/Desktop/target.dv

You just open the .flv file in QuicktimePro then convert to whatever format you want. If quicktime do not "see" the .flv file, I suggest to downloade a free file sharing peogram for the Mac witch is called Democrcy that will install on your computer some plug-in that will allow quicktime to see .flv files. Good luck on this. It works just fine with me.

  5. you'll need a quicktime plugin(the name escapes me) in order to open flv files within QT and you can save it as a DV file from there...
