Is a scanner worth buying? What are some of things the scanners can help me with?

I'm starting to get involved in the graphics design and i would like to use my art that i draw. Would a scanner be able to incorporate my drawings into different projects and would it maintain the quality of the drawing. Is it best that if i did a drawing and i'm ready to scan, to leave the drawing black and white?

What is the best scanner out there that would cater to my needs?

I'm very sorry if i'm asking bundles of questions but i'm just really interested

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, a scanner is great if you want to incorporate your drawings. Its better to just leave it as line art and scan it into the computer. That way you can clean it up some and paint it all digitally. There's some sites that really give good info on how to do that.

For scanning a drawing, I think most scanners out there are good for this. I have not come up to a bad one in the past three years.

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

    hi,
this is really a hard question since I don't know your background and things of interests ...!! so it difficult to say all the ways it can help you with...!

but overall a scanner would be invaluable..... they'll be many time whe people want to see your work and yo can send them scan of what you do.... or you need to scan your project into a program...... yo can even scan your photo, slides, negatives in your computer and with your graphic background incorporate those into projects.....

a lot of graphic design artists will do a lot on paper then scan that into the computer and use oneof there good graphic programs to do additional editing and such...

there is just really a lot of different ways yo can use a scanner.... and if grpahic design is the primary reason for a scanner then suggest you hit some of the graphic design boards that on the net.. just do a search andyou will get more ideas on usage and programs to use...!!!

now as far as as quality... a good scanner can scan at a very high quality.... as far as weather black or white (line art) or grey scale or color scanning... that really will depend on the project your doing...... and the programs your going to use....

note: now i am not sure on what your requiremetns are...... so i maybe wrong here... but for graphic programs now photoshop is outstanding but expensive........(400US) and corel is very good at somewhere around 150 US ... but if budget is a factor .. get GIMP it free and about equal to photoshop...... but gimp like photoshop does have a learning curve....

Now yo may want to do some research on scanning tips....... if yo do a search for
GRAPHIC SCANNING TECHNIQUES you will get a lot of hits that will have various tips and techniques.... I believe you will find that very beneficial plus you'll start to learn about other things like graphic format for example....... don't save your scanningproject in jpg... save in bmp or png or tif... the reason is the jpg you'll lose some quality of your scan.......

Well I think i talked enough... oh by the way... your english is just fine and in fact your grammer and type a whole lot better than mine...lol....
