I have a Xvid movie with the following data from the supplied nfo:

    Resolution...........: 576x240
    Duration.............: 1:59:02
    File Size............: 700mb
    Encoding.............: AutoGk 2-Pass
Audio................: Stream 01 - English (Default Audio)
    Stream 02 - French
    Stream 03 - Audio Commentary
    Codec................: xvid
    Subtitles............: .srt - English

The file seems OK; it's 700MB and the par files validate its integrity. However, when I try to play it with WMP, VLC, Nero, DivX, or Xvid only the first 9 seconds will play. Then it just stops. This is the first multi-stream avi that I can recall trying to play and I'm wondering if that has something to do with or the file is corrupt.

remux it and try again; gordian knot is a well-known crap to multiplex streams not correctly (and other things)

Drop it into VirtualDub and scan for bad frames. There may be a problem you can fix. Or it could be a fake file.

VDub found no bad frames, so I suspect fakery!

    Thanks for the help!
