Hi all! I recently purchased the Panasonic PV-GS29 DV Camcorder. When I opened up all the contents I realized that the DV Interface Cable was not included. When I read further on this I learned that a DV Interface Cable is the only way I could upload the video contents from my camcorder to my PC. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a DV Interface Cable could work with either a USB or 1394 Firewire port (both which my PC has). Also, once I have the camcorder connected to my PC, how exactly would I get the video contents on to my hard drive (considering no software was included with the camcorder). Any help would be great, thank you!

DV Interface Cable = Firewire = IEEE 1394. Note there are different connectors. Usually a small 4 pin connector on the camcorder, 6 pin on the computer:

Most video editors can capture DV via firewire. Some free altarnatives specifically for DV capture: DVIO, WinDV. -
