Does anyone know of a fast and accurate way to calculate the total running time of multiple avi files? When I say running time, I mean the total time it will take for all files to be played from beginning to end.
I've got over 300+ avi files and I would like to calculate their total running time. As you can imagine, it would be quite the chore to get the running time of each of file and add them all together by hand.
Does anyone know of a fast way to do this? Maybe like a program or something?

One way - if the formats and compressions are the same and if the files are in one location - is to select them all in Windows Explorer (I assume you have Windows since they are avi) and then right-click to get properties. You should get the total size of the files. If you know the data rate, then it's a simple calculation to get the running time.
If they are different formats etc and/or different locations, then it will be harder. You could putting them all on a single timeline in a suitable NLE and see how long the timeline is. But with that many files, the NLE may complain!John Miller
