  1. I haven't done any side-by-side comparisons, but this is the first time I have tried encoding an MPG2 using the external audio encoder tooLAME. It seems like it encoded a good 25% faster than it did using TMPGenc's audio encoder. Is this true or am I imagining things?

  3. Wow. Amazing. So you get better audio quality AND faster encoding speed? Why didn't I install tooLAME long ago? It might even be a good 40% faster. I need to do a good side-by-side comparison to verify the results... some other day...

  4. actually it is a proveing Fact that toolame is the fastest Mpeg 1 layer 2 audio encoder around and gives the best quality

  5. Yes, it's fast but seems to be pretty buggy. It may or
may not work for you with TMPGEnc. Worked great for
me as a TMPGEnc plug-in but then stopped working
for some unknown reason (reported some kind of padding
error). I have seen this problem reported frequently.
Now I use SCMPX. Not as fast as tooLAME but is more
reliable. Sounds good to me as well.

Any comments on the sound quality of SCMPX versus tooLAME?

  6. The padding error is not a problem (it's normally just the last frame of audio is not complete). I use the output after getting that error with no problem.

However, there are certain WAV files that Toolame crashes on, then you have to go back to TMPGEnc's internal encoder to do it (which is fine as long as you use "something else" to downsample from 48K to 44.1KHz).

  7. Sounds great but for some reason I cant get it downloaded. I followed the link from this site and it says i have to get it from the main site that toolame comes from. I try that and it still tells me the same thing. Any help?

  8. Well thanks to frotsen i was finally able to try a convert using tooLAME. Using TMPGE 2.00.29 i coverted a 50min file in 35min and 20sec using toolame on the audio. I decied to convert the same file without toolame and it took...... 35min and 21sec. So unfortunatly toolame did not increase my convert speed nor did it hurt it. I havent burned the file and tried on my DVD yet but if sound is better than ill keep using it. If not, no loss.
