  2. It is caused by the magentic poles of the earth. The factory supose to line the TV vertical axis with the earth you are standing on. If you can't get the dealer/service center to fix this, unplug the TV, open the back, loosen the TV reflection yoke, align it, tighten it. Plug in the TV, turn it on and off several times, for the degussing system to kick in, watch the outcome, and fine align it until you are happy, then close it up.

But watch out for the thousands of volts ready to zap you to death even with power disconnected.

Know what you are doing. Don't touch nuttin with your body or anything conductive.

  5. Good point. Make sure the filament of the pciture tube is not glowing before you work on the TV.

Note : Mordern TV uses a flyback transformer in series with the filament in its picture tube circuit.

Many Panasonic TVs use a crt with a bonded yoke. If you have one of those, it will have a tilt or rotate adjustment in the setup menu.

Most all "HD-Ready" progressive CRT sets have "internal" service menus that include rotation and linearity adjustments. Search the web for your model number and you might learn the unlock code to get to these menus. Keep in mind that you can do much damage messing with these controls if you don't know the procedures and use proper test patterns.

Most normal TV sets now have microprocessor control and many have digital control of CRT parameters. Some have service menus local to the TV and others require external service equipment. Service manuals are available for each model but it is easier to just take it to a qualified service shop. Eventially CRT's age to the point where they can't be readjusted to spec.

As CRT phosphors age, they dim often loosing red or blue at a faster rate leaving a greenish tint. The internal adjustments allow periodic rebalancing adjustments but the dimming phosphors put more and more load on the high voltage section which eventually fails. Such is the life cycle of a consumer TV.

    jare3094,

After looking through some manuals, Panasonic calls their tilt adjustment "Geomagnetic Corr". It can be found under Menu/Setup/Other adjustments.

If your set is different then I would need the model number.
