Got sent a number of Tiff photo files on cd, but one refuses to open in Photoshop (or anywhere else) giving the message "Could not complete your request because the Tiff file uses an unsupported compression method" . Any ideas what the person who scanned and saved could have done wrong or how I can open it ?

File could be corrupt. Have them send you the file again.

Try Irfanview. It's a free image viewer, with many plugins for all kinds of formats. If it can view it, it can save it to another format.

I don't know if this guy has figured out the problem yet or not, but for anyone else who is ever visiting this forum and using a PC do this:

Open the file in Microsoft Office Document Imaging. It should open up without a problem. Hit control-A to select the image, then copy image. Then in photoshop open up a new document... it should open up to the size and resolution of the image that you're trying to open.

Then as soon as the new document is open in Photoshop, go to Edit, and then paste. WHALLA. Should work just like that.
