are audio files in the format of mp2 pretty common for dvd's?

No, MP2 is not part of the DVD NTSC format, though it works on most players. It is for PAL, though.
It is commonly used on home made NTSC DVDs, though.
BTW, in the future, try asking your very similar questions all in one thread and then a moderator won't have to lock them for double posting.
