I need a reasonably priced encoder that is close to real time for encoding football footage on gamenights. I have a matrox RTX 100 at home, but no such luck at the school. What is my quickest way to encode to mpeg as-fast-as-possible. Quality can suffer a bit as this is just for the players, I'll use adobe for nicer projects. Thanks.

The *quickest* - a cheap stand-alone DVD recorder such as the $99 units at Best Buy etc. Not sure what your source is - camcorder, cable/satellite? Either way, hook up the recorder, press the record button and that's it! When done, you can make copies if you have a DVD writer in your computer...And some of the stand-alone units have built-in cable tuners and DV input. Quite amazing for the price.Originally Posted by greenstratJohn Miller
