    Hi,
I have a DVD that I want to make a backup of, however there is an area of the disc that is corrupt and cannot be played on a dvd player or ripped with any programs (I've tried all programs suggested on this site). The corrupted part of the disc however is not very important, it is at the very end of the disc during the end credits which are not important for me to backup.

My question is - Is there any way of ripping a certain portion of a dvd and missing out the corrupt part, then could I make a backup? I had an idea that DVD shrink could do this using the re-author feature, this would work perfectly if the program did not have to analyse the disc first. Then I could select the start and end points of the video, missing out the corrupt bit. I do understand that Shrink must analyse the dvd to provide you with the information required to decide upon the Start and End points, but this is the only way I can think of doing what I want to do.

Anyway, has anyone got any ideas???

    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks
    Jon

Try ripping the dvd with Dvddecrypter in file mode. Start up Dvddecrypter, click on the I/O tab, set read error retries to 0, & tick 'Ignore read errors'. It could take a long time though, depending on how badly corrupted the disc is. Then hopefully the files will load ok in Shrink. Worth a try.
