I have a .str file from our security camera ( dvr )with the suspect filmed in it.
I need to give it to the police but need to convert it to a format that can be watched without any special software.

Can't seem to find anything on that extension as far as video, closest i came was a screensaver file.
Try G-spot, if it won't open it because of the extension rename it with a avi extension. I'll take a guess it's just a common format with a different extension. Have you tried opening it with a media player?
If all else fails and you can play it with the software they provided use camstudio to capture it as it's playing. -
Give us model names & #'s regarding your equipment (camera, recorder, etc).
Maybe then we could pool our thinking about this.
