  1. Hi everyone. I use Nero to make my DVD's and ever since I can remember, whatever dvd I make, when I play it on my tv, the video makes a screeching noise 5 minutes in, stops, then continues. Sometimes it doesn't make noise for the whole movie and at the last second it does again. I was just wondering what it could be. Sometimes Nero makes burning process failures when it is transcoding menus and I don't know if it is that or if it is my DVD burner. I have a Sony DVD +-R Double Layer DVD burner. Any help is apreciated. This noise is driving me crazy. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I can't find the correct one to post in.

From the sounds of that, I would quit using Nero to make DVDs. But you really gave no information. Making DVDs from what? How?

That type of sound may be a corrupted audio stream, makes more like a high pitched squeal or chirp for me most of the time.

If it does it with all DVDs, including ones backed up with DVDShrink or similar, then it sounds like a driver or motherboard problem. The DVD burner is not a likely suspect.

First I would try a different program than Nero for creating DVDs. It's OK as a burner, but it does most everything else, including encoding and authoring to DVD poorly.

What is your video source? If it's AVI or similar, you need to encode it. Then you need to author it. We have lots of guides for that to the left. CAPTURE, EDIT, CONVERT, AUTHOR and a bunch more.

Post a few more details and someone here can probably give you a little more guidance.

And this would be better in the Newbie/General forum. Moving you.

  3. Thanks for moving me. The DVD's I make is basically anime and they are in avi format. I then use Nerovision express 3 to encode it and also burn it. I usually get burning errors when it is encoding but so far it is working. When it is done I play it on my GOVideo dvd player and it makes weird screeching noise at different parts of the movie every time. I liek using Nero because it's a very simple program to use. I also don't know how to author avi's to dvd and I think Nero does that for me automatic. Any help is apreciated
