Newbie question

Hi all,

I've got a question for the group. I've downloaded my first movie and want to burn it on SVCD to play on my APEX1500 (with hacked firmware).

I currently have TMPGEnc 2.50. When I try to open the avi file I get "file not opened or unsupported" error message.

So, anyone know what the problem is? I can't provide any details on the avi file as media player does not show me any statistics for the avi file? (Frame Rate, resolution). I can play it using windows media player just fine and yes, I have the latest Divx 4.0 codec installed.

Can someone recommend the SVCD format converter I should use (TMPGEnc, CCE, DVD2SVCD)?

Settings for best possible picture quality? I don't care about how many disks are needed or how long (less than a day would be preferable)
