Everytime I open Firefox, the window is opened minimised by default and I have to click on the maximise icon to have firefox fill the screen.
This happens every time I open firefox, and even a new window in firefox.
Does anyone know what settings I need to change so firefox is opened maximised by default. Tried googling the answer but couldn't find any.
Thanks.

http://www.no-future.com/erutufon/showthread.php?t=21187 mentions a corrupt profile, but I dunno whether this would be contributing to the non-maximised issue though.

Thanks for the reply jim.
The problem is the first link is exactly the problem I had as mentioned by the OP, reading through the responses however didn't provide a solution.
The second link actually solved the problem. All I had to do was to right click on the firefox shortcut and select Run as maximised window. -
Only a temporarly fix (for the firefox shortcut that is) . It opens maximised when I click on firefox shortcut, but when within firefox and I click open new window, the new window opens minimised so still need to maximise it

I had the same problem. Try this. Open Firefox, then maximize. Then click on the center button which enables you to manually size the window. Resize to fit your screen. Close and see if will open to the manually sized window when opened again. Good luck.

Didn't work. Though Firefox is a good browser, this is not the first time ive had this problem. Ive had this exact same problem many times before and was required to unistall and do a clean install.
Ive just installed Opera and have now decided to use Opera. -
Dunno if this works with other browsers but I max the window then hold ctl + close the window.

Does anything appear on the desktop when you open up a new Firefox window? Or just the icon in the taskbar?

Type :
about:config
..in the address bar and hit enter. See if there's an internal setting.

@ gadgetguy
Firefox actually comes to minimised as a small window so I need to maximised it everytime to fill the screen. I always opens uo to the same size, regardless of whether I resize it or even maximise it.
@Alan69
Typed that, gone throgh the list and cant really find an option of size maximisation. -
Don't maximize it, resize it. Grab a corner and expand it out to full screen instead of using the maximize button.

Tried it. Doesn't work. I think theres a corruption within Firefox which is causing the problem.

Did you try making a new profile? Maybe there's a corruption somewhere. See http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile for more info.
-
Creating a new profile didn't work, though it earsed all my bookmarks, and other settings.
Ive just uninstalled Firefox, cleaned the registry, and did the clean install. This is the only way I could think of fixing the problem. All is well now (for the timebeing). This is not the first time ive had the problem. Had it a few times before as well as also did clean installs previously. I think it would also be inevitable that this problem would occur again in the future unless the bug in firefox is fixed
Thanks for all those who helped. Much appreciated. -
I archive certain files in my profile on occasion, such as bookmarks.html, history.dat, etc. If you have to delete a profile and start over, you can copy the above two files into the new profile, and not lose your bookmarks or history. (I usually don't copy anything else, even though it can be done, because I might carry over whatever problem I caused to the original profile.

I always thought (not that I'm doubting the problem you're having, it's just what I'd thought) that on Windows, Firefox's window state (minimized, maximized, etc.) was left mostly to Windows to handle. I think there's something else Windows looks at to remember window states (even in spite of what a shortcut tells it to do), but I don't recall what it is.If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
