  1. Amen is correct. Let it go. In fact buy or rent seasons 1 thru 6 and quit there with the final show aptly named "Full Circle".
You will have a decent show. After season six things went way down hill and the writers ran out of ideas.
Now they have simply replaced the "Goa'uld" with the "Ori". Same stuff with different name.
And w/o Anderson it's just pitiful. I've never seen one man carry a show so much as Anderson had to do.
And Robert Cooper wouldnt know a decent Sci-Fi plot if it fell on his head. What a goof.
I started with the 1st ep on Showtime and watch everyone faithfully for ten years and really wish I had quit at end of season 6.
I can now tell the lack of enthusiasm of the actors and the totally lack of writing ideas.
If one started at the 1st episode and watch as I have they certainly know what I am talking about.
Even Star Trek TNG, probably the best series (Sci-Fi) ever had the good sense to quit after 7 seasons and even the 7th season suffered.
Stargate SG-1 writers have stolen every idea and plot they can from TNG and Voyager and others. It's comical sometimes as they are almost too obvious. SG-1 writers are worn out and need to retire. They are just in it for the money, the last 3 or 4 years anyway.

  2. Star Trek TNG didnt have the "good sense" to stop after 7 seasons. That was the idea before the series even aired on tv.

With the exception of The Original Series, the idea for ALL Trek series was to have them run for 7 seasons. TNG, DS9, and voyager all ran for only 7 seasons. Enterprise was supposed to do the same but it was not popular enough.

Exactly. The idea is after the 7th season salaries and production costs increase too much. Sg-1 is the exception, and has had some fantastic episodes past season 7 - look at Threads

  4. Is that why they stopped after 7 seasons? I had no idea what the reason was. I just assumed because after 7 seasons, MOST shows have pretty much run its course and tend to get stale.

I must admit I am a fairly big sci-fi fan but for some reason could not get into Stargate. Not that I hated it, but rather was just "meh" about it.

In any event, if they end the shows run, it had 10 years and thats more than most shows get. If they continue on, I hope they are successful.

They wanted to push for the movies after the Seventh season. That was the main reason they ended TNG at 7.

Did I say the good sense was made after the end of the 7th season? No. I and the writers knew that 7 seasons were allocated for TNG and Voyager and DS9.
However if the money and ratings had been like some CSI or one of the so called reality shows...guess what. Probably an 8th. But thankfully 7 was it.
Also yoda is correct. At the time the 7th season was ending they were running DS9 and starting on the movie featuring TNG cast. So yes it was time to move on.
I just hope there is another ST movie which Paramount said a year or so ago there would not be.

Garibaldi, yes "Threads" was a wrap up show. Only because the poor writing had left so many loose ends everyone was getting lost.
There were some good shows after season 7 for sure. Just after Anderson left it fell hard.

    BUMP

Anyone see the QUEST episode Friday night? I thought it was pretty good.

Unfortunately it was kind of a rip off of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.......
