My 30 day trial of TMPGEnc is OVER, and TMPGEnc will NO LONGER MUX m2v and mp2.

Can someone please recommend a freeware program that WILL mux m2v & mp2?

Again, please don't recommend TMPGEnc, it doesn't mux m2v & mp2 after the 30 day trial period.

    TIA.

    Peace.

    Thanks.

I noticed mJpegtools is designed for the Linux OS.

I should have stated earlier that I am using Windows XP Professional.

    TIA.

Get the DVDAuthorGUI package. In that, you'll find mplex for Windows. A Google for "mplex windows" will also give you some leads...

    Actually, for me, YES.

I tried ImagoMPEG-Muxer and it produced an mpeg-2 that VCDEasy rejected w/ an error message,

    "Error - "movie.mpg" analyse failed:"

Although the mpg plays fine in WMP, Gspot sees a really strange mpeg2 file (which is probably why VCDEasy rejects it).

I have no idea why ImagoMPEG-Muxer is NOT producing an mpeg-2 file that works w/ VCDEasy.

Before the 30 trial ran out, TMPGEnc muxed the m2v and mp2 to mpg, and VCDEasy accepted the mpeg-2 file w/o an error message.

    BTW, the mpeg2 file is SVCD compliant (480x480 NTSC), w/ a 3:2 pulldown from 23.97 to 29.97.

I guess I'll try mplex later, unless someone can tell me how to resolve the problem w/ ImagoMPEG-Muxer and VCDEasy.

I would prefer to use ImagoMPEG-Muxer, because I'd rather have a GUI.

    TIA.

    Peace.

bbMpeg will produce multiplexed files that are accepted by VCDEasy ... At least I never had any problems with that combination when I was still creating PAL SVCD's (about 5 years ago, so I don't have any idea of the current VCDEasy version).

    BTW, bbmpeg has GUI.

I tried bbMPEG, the 1st mux was a success, VCDEasy accepted the mpeg-2 file.

The 2nd mux was NOT a success. bbMPEG gave the following error message:

    Multiplexing file temp.mpg
video PTS (1365243.70ms) underflow at pack 130056 by 92.43ms
1 video underflows (SCR >= PTS or DTS)

NOTE: The resulting file may not play back correctly.
    Try increasing the mux rate.
    Finished multiplexing temp.mpg

    End of error message.

What must I do to "increase the mux rate"???

There's alot more setting to worry about in bbMPEG than TMPGEnc, so I need to RTFM.

Thanks everyone for you help! I hope you can help me solve the latest problem posted above.

    TIA.

    Peace.

The DVDAuthorGUI program doesn't allow me to mux a DTS audio track into my project (it can only find AC3, MP2, MPA, M2A). However, the mplex command-line tool allows me to mux a DTS track into a generic MPEG2 file. Why doesn't the GUI accept DTS whereas mplex does? The GUI invokes mplex during the process, am I right?
