Hi, me newbie into all that stuff, i did use the forum search, but couldn't find a topic about this:

A friend of mine knows less about this stuff than i, but managed to rip off a relevant part (he doesn't remember how), from a DVD which seems to be authored ok.

The file plays fine in every Viewer, but i cant sort of "touch" it to author it again.
Nero, DVDShrink, tmpgenc... all state or complain that this is not a valid DVD-file or even don't show it when browsing (no filter, *.*)

With this Vobfile i received also a dv2, idx, lst, bup, ifo -file.
I tried with several tools, but now i am somehow blockheaded, i just don't get it.

Getting this thing to burn would be enough, although i originally wanted to recode it to whatever to reduce the size massively as quality doesn't matter.

    Thanks for some hints
    chris

    sdive.idx
    sdive.lst
sdive_0 (as stated by win, "Type: bup file")
    sdive_0 (... ifo file)
    sdive_001 (text document)
    sdive_1 (playable vob file)
    sdive_info (text document)

tried import the vob file with tmpgenc dvd author ?

or try demultiplex to video and audio files with tmpgenc->mpeg tools->demultiplex and import them in the authoring tool like tda.

or try open in videoredo and save as a mpg file.

    Hi Baldrick,
Standing in a forest of tools, Your post got me on the way back to logic thinking!
I managed to create a mpeg stream with video-redo and demux the stream with tmpgenc mpegtools.
That helped a lot, as i didn't even know what is demux, remux etc... so i enjoined myself somekind of private lessons on DVD-Backgrounds
Glad i also got rid of a turorial-audiostream, authoring with freshly purchased TDA - a great app.
Thanks very much for Your suggestions!
    chris
