I keep a few false files in my shared folders for just such reasons. Not to disrupt the P2P but to discourage downloading of copyrighted material or at the very least upset those that do abuse the network by doing so. No viruses mind you(I do not want to support unsafe computing) but intentionally misnamed files that contain garbage data. I just wish I could see the face of the idiot who downloads that 400MB AVI false file from me. I laugh when I see the list of morons who grab it. Stealing is a crime. But making them waste their bandwidth is great fun.

I'd be laughing if the authorities and your ISP log your IP and the filename and attempt to prosecute you for copyright violation (based on filename alone)

There is a suspense/horror movie that came out this week people have been clamoring over for the last few weeks or so. I've already heavily seeded one. The filename was even changed by someone and re-seeded. I guess I will have to seed another(with different file size of course) for those who would steal from others. What's more funny, people who download these blanks or people who share the blanks they've downloaded with others? Either way it's great fun!

I wish more people would do this and maybe we could finally get rid of the stigma P2P users have gotten over the last few years.
