  1. Hi folks!

    For Audio-CD playback, the Pio is connected to the amplifier by optical cable as well as cinch. The amp is switched to Auto-input, so it selects the PCM stream coming through the optical connection. The PCM indicator sign of the amp's display is on.

    It was like this up to some two weeks ago. Since then the playback tends to get interrupted every 10 to 40 seconds or so, the PCM sign goes off - temporarily.

    Any idea what's wrong there? (By switching between the amp's input terminals and trying different optical cables I could track down the source of the problem to the Pioneer.)

    I hate to state the obvious, but it appears the optical connector or circuitry is bad/failing. Unless it is under warranty, it would most likely be more cost effective to get a new unit.
