It was posted on a thread here that the *combination* of both packed bitstream and 2 consequtive b-frames that cause the stuttery video problem with mediatek-based chipsets, which includes the 3040 (I've seen this first-hand). I'm trying to find out if the 5140 has the same problem or not before buying one. Any help is appreciated -- thanks!

It will if it has the same chipset. It would probably be more helpful to find out which chipset it uses, then do a forum search on chipset and see what info you can dig up.

They do have the same chipset, in that they're both MediaTek. But I'm not sure if there's different chipsets within that, you know?
