I was using Nero to convert and burn, but 2 out of 4 DVDs were coasters.
I switched to converting with Nero and burning with Imgburn. Not so many coasters but still losing some.
I found that I could burn the first DVD no problem, but if I tried to burn another straight away it failed.
If I restart the computer after every burn, I get 100% success rate.
Any ideas why it does this?

It sounds like a buffer is getting filled up and not refreshing, but that's just a guess. Or it may just be that your burner is overheating.

Personally I wouldn't use Nero for anything but burning. It doesn't do that well as an encoder/converter.

You never said what was wrong with the DVDs. If Nero failed to complete the burn, there would be a burn log to give you the error. If it's just a burning problem, I would try different media. You should be having zero coasters. If you still have the problem with a different encoder, different media, and a different burning program, maybe there is a problem with the burner?

    Overheating!
I just vacuumed out the inside of my computer. Fans were getting clogged again!
    That should ease some problems.
    Back to burning...
If I restart after every burn I get 100% success. I can do that 50 times. But the minute I try to burn another DVD without restarting it fails after 'writing leadin'

Do you have the same issue with both apps or just one? If it is both apps, I would suspect the drive.

Yes same issue with Nero and Imgburn.
BUT, after a computer restart they burn perfectly.
Just to repeat. I can burn 50 DVDs one after the other only if I restart the computer every time. So I guess DVD drive overheating isn't the problem. Wouldn't the drive give problems all the time.
I can burn audio CDs with no problems at all.
