  1. I have DVD-lab Pro and have been working on a small project for a few weeks on and off.

I have completed most everything except one.

With the main video file, i cut out certain parts to make a completely new video file...sort of like a preview to what the movie will be. Like we all see on commercial DVD menus.

Anyway, i have a menu that is not animated and i want my preview clip to play in a small rectangle or square in the menu.
So far however, DVD-lab Pro just makes the clip the menu background.

any ideas on how i can go about this?

To do what you are after, either prepare the background in your editor first (which is what I do), or read up on Render Motion Menu in the help files.

I made this for an episode disk once but it required alot of work. You set up switch menus, one for each clip. You drop the preview in as a motion button wherever you want and drop the audio in as the menu background. (I had set mine so that when the audio finishes it goes back to the still menu so the preview doesn't repeat.)

Now this will work if your clip is short, but mine weren't. They were about 5 minutes each so I had to reencode the clips in another program with the menu background still image around them and then import them into dvdlab as mpegs which I dropped into the switch menus as background. Added some frames (that you put around buttons, but just empty and resized) or just invisible buttons to hook up the links and it was good to go.
