  1. right now I got some SWISSTEC 8X dvd-R. The media id on it is TYG02.

Seems that I have no errors at this time, one of my buds claims his stand alone player would not play the media very well.

So its up in the air, what is the best out there??

Taiyo-Yuden is generally considered the best, especially TYG02 (DVD-R 8x). The DVD+R offerings are generally considered to be the best of that format as well.

However, I recommend buying TY from supermediastore.com in the future. I suspect the Swisstec you have is using a counterfeit TYG02 code to impersonate TY media.

    Taiyo Tuden are excellent dvdrs.
