    Is there a program to convert a dvd to divx at once, where you can select all the options etc...

    Go to Doom9's page and download a program called Madrona. It uses the Fair Use program (which is very easy) for the video, but also takes care of the audio for you. You can make decent 700meg rips with this, the only draw back is that it is slow.
