I have some DTS audio CDs that I've been trying to convert to standard MP3s so I can use them in my winamp library.

Now, I've ripped the CDs with AudioCrusher so I have the wav files, and these wav files play fine in VLC (since it has a DTS decoder built-in), but if I try playing these wavs (or if I try to convert these wavs to mp3s using RazorLame or AudioCrusher), I just hear static in standard audio players. Since DTS audio files are multi-channel and MP3 files are only stereo (two channel), none of the standard converters will work.

I tried using foobar2000 to convert them using the special 5.1 to stereo plug-in, but that didn't work either.

    Any ideas?

Well you have one option that I know of that should work.

It's a realtime option though. Since you can play them in vlc simply use a sound recorder program that can record "what u hear" off your sound card. Then play the files in winamp and record with the the recording program.

Simple and direct. Though time consuming. But it works.

Total Recorder can do it too, probably. I've used it to convert Audible streams at about 8x real time. Also can record WinAmp or WMA streams at 2 or 3x real time. Depends on the source and the server.
