It’s been a couple of months since the last release... Sorry about that but I have had other things on my plate. I have just added a few things and am about to release a new build. However - as I am now a bit rusty - I would like some of the regular/seasoned users to kick its tyres first... Just to see if I have broke anything!

So in the registered users area there is a new build:

    Version 2.1.2421:

    - ImgBurn 2+ support. DVD Decrypter/ImgBurn 1 support replaced by ImgBurn 2 support and its ability to "build and burn". Now the recommended burning method due to its superior burning engine.
    - PAL HDTV sources (50 fields per sec / 25 frames per sec) now supported. PAL or NTSC DVDs can be produced from such source material.
    - "Force 16:9 DVD" override setting for AVI sources that have no aspect ratio info.
    - Updated GUI.

The main reason for the release is the new ImgBurn support. So tests on that and the other things would be appreciated. But also I am hoping nothing is broken since 2.1.2308 too.

Please post your feedback and I hope to release properly based on that.

  2. Chris -

Running a project now, will let you know if there arise any issues. Like the updated GUI, much easier to read, seems a little faster too (GUI response that is).

  4. Multiple AVI conversion went off without a hitch, burned with ImgBurn 2.0. One caveat - if you have multiple burners and don't have ImgBurn properly set for the drive you want to use, your project will not burn - this a problem with your ImgBurn settings not SVCD2DVD.

  7. ChrissyBoy,

Used it today and burned with ImgBurn2. All went well.

Seems to use less CPU power than when I last used it too.

Used it overnight on 2 WS AVIs (one with bad aspect ratio encode) and the new force 16:9 facility worked a treat. That facility will be very useful given that many AVIs posted on usenet have bad AR's. Dya think there will be any probs if this facility is default checked and just uncheck individually when the source AR is def FS 4:3 ?

One suggestion: I have found that S2D gives perfectly acceptable results on Full-D1 down to a bitrate of abt 2600 ( in fact almost any bitrate as compared to complaints from friends when half-D1 is used). I have modified the registry to always use Full-D1. Would it not be an idea to create a facility in the settings to use Full-D1 irrespective or maybe set a lower bitrate in the install where half-D1 kicks in ?

  9. I burned several projects with no problems.

Suddenyl last night S2D won't start up correctly. The S2D window appears and then immediately shuts down. Nothing in the log file.

There may have been a change to your system. If you double click on the "SVCD2DVD demo.exe" file in the SVCD2DVD folder you can redo the registration process. This should solve the problem.

I've experienced a problem converting a PAL (25fps) DivX avi file which I've never had before with earlier S2D versions. It may of course be an encoding fault in the source material. I converted 2 AVIs to burn on one dvd, the first one was ntsc film (no conversion probs) and with the second one (both GSpot and Virtual Dub say the avi is PAL 25fps) S2D converted it to ntsc 29.97fps without me checking the conversion box and the result is of course a bit jerky on playback. The S2D log file under AV Details states "Standard=UNKNOWN".

Here's an extract from the log file relative to the avi in question:

I should perhaps have added in my previous post:

Both GSpot and Virtual Dub say that the video codec is DivX 5.0.2 whereas the S2D log says it's mpeg4.
