I think I'll stay NERO 6 forever.
I'm sick of the price and software bloat in the product.
Just sell me NERO and bundle it with the basic tools related to burning. I don't need all your software because I don't USE it.
I demand Nero 7 Classic!![]()

Nero 7 is $4.99

How do that make it so cheap? It looks professional enough, and there are contact details, so it's most likely (if not certainly) legal. Why don't more places sell software so cheaply? Windows for about £40 isn't bad at all.
-
I've bought from them before - Not Backups, Not Warez, 100% legal stuff. It may not be the latest version, or even supported by the manufacturer - but it is cheap and legal. As to the Nero: That's a "Suite 1" OEM CD normally distributed with a drive. It has many of the features of Nero Ultra Edition, but not all. It will give you Nero to burn with, but you will have to download the manual, amongst other things.
OEM Version- Read More
OEM generally means "original equipment manufacturer." Sometimes it is referred to as "open-ended market" and used interchangeably with "bulk-pack," "white box," and "brown box." Almost all PC component and software vendors make two versions of the same product based on a difference in the distribution channels. One is the retail boxed products sold mainly through retailers. The second one is the OEM products which are sold mainly to system builders, such as Compaq and Dell (the OEMs). These bulk-pack products do not have fancy packaging materials and are often produced in much higher volume, both of which result in much lower prices that have not been available to the public. The OEM products are of the same quality and often carry the same manufacturer warranty as their retail counterparts (the single-pack). They also often include supporting materials such as manuals and drivers when applicable. However, most of the information is on a CD or on manufacturer's web site.
Anyway: It's not a bad deal for Nero - considering the last Nero 7 Ultra Edition that I bought was $60

I bought Nero 7. It's OK, but the main thing it did for me was get rid of the DVD Shrink error when burning using Nero 6. I used to have to turn that off in DVD Shrink and burn the files separately (still with Nero 6).
Now I can go back to loading the DVD in my DVD-ROM and a blank disk in my burner, and just wait for DVD Shrnk to analyze the disk and then click "Backup" and walk away. Later when I check in on it, it's done. No more dual operations.
That being said, I'm not sure Nero7 gives me much other useful functionality. There might have been some patch or something I could have done with Nero 6 to make it work with DVD Srink the way it used to, but I did some searching a few months ago when the problem first appeared, and found nothing. I just worked around it until I bought Nero 7 last week.

If you want a good cheap burning app it's hard to beat Prassi Ones.

In defense of ROF: someone has changed his links TO A WAREZ SITE!!!
Let it be noted the site that both he and I refered to is SOFTWAREOUTLET_DOT_COM.
I'll not be chastised, or linked to peddling warez on videohelp, but right is right: ROF's original links were to www.softwareoutlet.com, to the Nero 7 Essentials Suite - I followed the link before I made my post.
The Nero 7 Essentials Suite 1 can be found at the following web address:
http://www.softwareoutlet.com/UTI/p-7954.html AND IT IS NOT WAREZ, IT IS AN OEM CD.
The actual FAQ listed at their website:
Q: How does SoftwareOutlet.com sell software at such an inexpensive price?
A: SoftwareOutlet.com purchases its software from various venues. Such places include: overstock, auctions, closeouts, companies going out of business. We provide great prices because we purchase them a low prices!
Q: Is your software pirated, copied or illegal?
A: No, we are a legitimate business and would not have lasted over 12 years in the industry if we dealt in illegal software.
I did not get a chance to check the link to ahead's website to download Nero 7 Ultra Edition, but I suspect it may have been correct.
If you look at the post, it has been modified from last night.
MODS, if you're watching, please correct this.
Thanks,
-
The one in the "report a problem" thread is a link to ****.warezt**** not the original link that ROF posted, which was
to softwareoutlet - I clicked on it last night, and it took me to their website. That is the website that I was referring to in my original post. While they sale closeout and discounted software, none of it is warez, backups, or illegal. If someone can change ROF's links in a post, they can do the same to any of us. That's why I wanted the mods to look into it.
BTW: Cobra posted just after ROF, and he didn't notice a link to a warez site - why doesn't someone ask him where the link went to.
Changing the link makes my posting look like I recommend warez - which I don't - that's my issue
Thanks
-
well, i clicked on the "links" (there was more than one) in rof's post awhile before it was reported yesterday and one of the original link's in his post lead to the same site in the "report" thread before BJ_M removed it.
Because i thought it looked fishy and seemed to remember seeing it before but i did not bother looking around in depth as someone else did.
And the only person that can change the post's is the OP or a mod....
Are you suggesting a conspiracy 8)
Now where did i leave that magic bullet ??
-
I'm not really suggesting anything - If you follow my postings in videohelp, I'm probably opposite of ROF in many beliefs - he's more than stated what his beliefs are on many occassions. I'm just saying that I clicked on the link, and it took me to a site that I'd purchased legal OEM software from in the past, and not a warez site. I still have faith that Cobra would've caught a warez link - even though the one up there now is blocked, you can still see where it goes to by passing the pointer over it.
Is security so absolute that only a MOD can change a post?
I would like to believe that, but I know what happened when I clicked the link last night.
I'd rather not stick my neck out for ROF in particular, but if you read my original post, and visit the website that I was referring to, you'd see it's not a warez site -
Thanks
-
I know what you're saying, and you keep talking about 1 link, and before it was reported and changed there were two links in his post and one lead to the same site that is in the report thread. I looked at them right after he posted.
I know security is not foolproof but c'mon 8)
And just because they are mod's does not mean they check every link and thoroughly inspect every site linked to on here, i've seen mods post in other threads where it's obvious they were replying to warez and was later closed.
They can't catch everything, that's what the "report" thread is there for 8)
But Nero 6.6.0.14 still rocks :P
-
I did report what I saw on the "report" thread. I know what the link went to - I followed it. I've been learning much on this website since it was vcdhelp and I really don't want to see it hacked. As beligerent as ROF has gotten at times regarding copyright protection, etc; why would he post a link to a warez site? I hope Baldrick looks into this one - it may be interesting.
Anyway, my main issue was this: I commented on the website the link followed. Having a link to warez after those comments implicates me as advocating warez, which I did not. My credibility suffers also in this case, and I cannot tolerate that.
Can a site like videohelp be hacked, certainly. Is it possible - considering how popular this site is? Absolutely.
Has ROF been anything from a minor annoyance to an absolute pain in the past, yes. Could someone want ROF spanked? Does ROF have enemies that he's made himself? YEP.
I only wish that I didn't wipe the history when I closed out IE last night.
-
WOW! Talk about changing something to suit your own needs. I have bought alot of software from softwareoutlets.com.
The links above are not the ones I originally posted.
They were changed by someone to facilitate their own . . . whatever. I can't even figure out why it was really done. But if you go to softwareoutlets.com (not a warez site) they offer cheap software and great prices. Nero 7 at $4.99 being one of them.
I WOULD FURTHER ASK FOR AN OPEN APOLOGY AND AN IMMEDIATE REMOVAL OF THE YELLOW CARD FROM MY ACCOUNT AND THE WARNING AT THE BOTTOM OF MY POST ABOVE REMOVED.
The site owner should remove the moderator status of whoever changed those links.
-
http://.........../UTI/p-7954.html was fine (Nero 7 is $4.99 ).
That one had OEM Nero CDs, legit ones.
The other one was not (Download Ultra Edition for $25.00 ).
That site is pure warez.
I have my history, and I know how to use google cache.

Of all the
ROF, your original second link was directly to a warez/piracy site. Not just for downloads, but for purchasing warez. I reported it since the mods didn't catch it and it also proves that you are a tremendous hypocrite.
I saw your post as it was posted (refresh). Your links were the same except for the prefix, which BJ_M changed. If anyone should be making an apology, it would be you. You should apologize to both Baldrick for the link, and BJ_M for the over-the-top conspiracy remarks.
Simply put, owe up to what you did and move on. In a month, you'll get the card taken away.

Just as ls has shown, and just as Barnabas and I have said, you linked to a warez site.
You got caught, so leave it at that. Don't be like these other jerks that have gotten a yellow card and quickly turned it into a ban with conspiracy theories and insults.
Especially don't start PM'ing BJ_M in your usual MO.
EDIT:
So, ROF, what was the title to your link before it was "sabotaged"? How do you explain the title of the link if softwareoutlet doesn't sell Nero for $25?
Of course this is rhetorical since I saw the original post as it happened, so unless one of the mods was sitting right next to you...
