Star War fans everywhere join hands and rejoice! Cinemax has struck a deal with Lucasfilm to broadcast all six Star War movies in high-def for the very first time come this November. Sure, there have been times in the past when the Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith have ran on both HBO and Cinemax in high def, but Lucasfilms have never allowed the original trilogy to be aired in the higher resolution. Plus, this makes the first time all six films will be shown on the same station. The deal apparently allows the station to run a few times throughout the month so if ya got to work for the first time through, there is sure to come a time again in a few days that will allow you to sit back and enjoy 15-hours of Star Wars in HD.

  5. Considering how long it took Lucas to release the original trilogy on DVD, this might be the only occation we'll get to see those films in high-def this decade...

Too bad I don't subscribe to CinemaxHD

    Evening everyone

Well, at least I have my Laserdisc versions, one set of the "original"
uncut/unedited, and the other set, Special Editions.

Now, I like both, but if I were going to watch any, I think I like the
SE vers (on laserdisc) because the quality is very good, and they don't
have any of those artifiacts, as seen on the *original* laserdisc sets.

The one thing that has confused me (over time) with regards to the all
the laserdisc version sets, were just that.. too many versions (or covers)
that insinuated different versions. I don't know if they are all true
versions. To me, I only see two.. the Original, and the Special Editions.

Now if you were to ask me, are you going to buy the HD sets ??

I'd probably say, yes! Because I wan to see how *they* produce these in HD
so that I can examin/analize them with my laserdisc sets, etc.

Its just a hobby, you know!

    ?????

I just finally subscribed to cable this summer - ain't no way I'm paying for HIGH DEF cable when i'd only be able to watch it on the pc. Uh-uh. I love starwars but not that much.

Still I'll be buying the "absolute" original dvds when they hit the stores this fall - anyone got a firm release date yet???
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

"absolute" original dvds? I have all the commercial DVD's I think. Are mine not "absolute" original dvds?

Individual DVD for I, II, III
Widescreen "silver" set for early trilogy.

There have been rumors of a HD 3D release.

No. I'm talking about the laserdisc's ERA, not the dvd's. But, never
    mind.

I won't pay for 'live' viewing, thats for sure lol
But if this comes out on HD-DVD then maybe I'll buy it - but only if it comes out as a set of all the movies and including all the versions.
Otherwise Im through with it, and no one will squeezze any more penny from me for a quarter century old shit
