Hi, I picked up a Philips 5960 player the other day, but the lack of DTS really bothers me. [I have several movies with this track and the 642 could handle it] Do anyone have any advice for a good player?

DTS is not one of the options you can look for in the dvd player list.. [and the search function acts a bit odd for me]

Not all players can read/output DTS audio.

I thought all newer players(and especially such with hdmi and upscaling...) supported that but apparently not.

I have tried to include dd,dts support in the dvd players list but most manfacturer sites doesn't include information if it has a builtin decoder or just output or if it doesn't support it...so I gave up.

I have a DTS receiver, there's just no output at all from the player.
Looks like I may need to go with the oppo. Was hoping for something cheaper.
    Or maybe I'll just wait.

As for search, Well I check the boxes that have the abilities I want in the player and hit search and either I get no hits or I get everything to hit.
The features I would like to have in my dream player are the following

    1. DIVX ultra.
    2. full audio track support. i.e. DTS / Dolby 5.1 7.1
    3. long filenames.
    4. mp3 info .
    5. be realy cool if it allowed playlist and/or random tracks
    6. progressive scan
    7. hd output. [with decent up scaleing]

Thats all I can think of for now.

You may also want to check out players such as the AVEL linkplayer.
