Your NEC 1300 is old and the firmware is no longer being updated, maybe it's time for a new writer.
Have you tried another burn software? -
wow i see, no other work around? and yeah i tried with Tsunami Mpeg Dvd Author Pro also it didnt work..
also i see you mention firmware i found this site and ran this here
http://www.herrie.org/firmwares/nec1300.html
if you could see in the following screen shot i clicked "flash" (before whatever its showing now) and it ran through the progress bar then made me restart my pc i was thinking that would maybe solve my burning problem but its the same, i hope i didnt damage my drive or roll anything back i shouldnt have.....would you happen to know, or anyone?

Has this worked before or is it a new problem? Have you changed anything recently (hardware, software, discs)?
It could just be a matter of finding older/slower discs that your burner is compatible with.Google is your Friend -
it has it its the dvd-r discs i guess, i noticed i usually get +r and its fine.
but basically ive got a big stack of them that i cant do anything with now....that is why i was wondering if i could do anything else.
also now when i start up my machine after i ran the program mentioned in my above post, now when i start my pc i get a pop up saying found new hardware (it mentions my drive 1300A or whatever model it is) how do i get rid of that error now??? i tried poping in disc 1 of my restore discs to search and install the hardware but it didnt find any drivers
i need to install the drive again i guess i know i can at least play music and burn cds but it says hardware not fully installed or some sort -
If it is finding the player every time you restart, then windows is not installing the hardware properly. Just remove the drive(s) from device manager and reboot. Windows should find the drive and install it. Then check device manager and verify it is listed there and doesn't have a yellow ! next to the drive.
As for your stack of discs, you are pretty much out of luck. Get a new drive or save them for later use. The reason being, the drives firmware contains the information needed for the drive to recognize and burn any media. Since you are using an older drive that is no longer updated, there are no "profiles" for any of the new media.
Personally, with the cost of a new NEC3550 being $29 at newegg, I would just get a new drive. You then have a new drive that is still updated to accept all of the latest media, you get a quality drive, and you have a much faster drive.Google is your Friend
