There are any diference between the two standards, the japonese and the american?
    They are compatibles?

I buy a video game in Japan (Xbox360) and i will use it in brazil, with RCA cable, my television dont have Video component input.

My TV is compatible with the systems PAL and NTSC, but I dont know if the japonese NTSC are compatible with the american.

    Please help.

    It won't work.

Japanese NTSC and USA NTSC are very nearly the same and are interchangable.

But a XboX 360 console bought in the USA is made to only play games from North America. A XboX 360 console bought in Japan is made to only play games from Japan.

Although there might be a way to "mod" your XboX 360 but that is a tricky thing I know nothing about.

There are a few very minor differences, the main one having to do with SETUP (aka Black Level).

Japanese version: 0% White (BLACK) = 0 IRE
US version: 0% White (BLACK) = 7.5 IRE

Remember, these are ANALOG levels. This should have nothing to do with how things are stored or displayed digitallly.

601-based YUV material should be encoded with luminance levels: 16-235,
RGB-based material should be encoded: 0-255.
    (There are variations)

Videogames are DIGITAL and likely encoded as 2D/3D info (vector + bitmap) that is RENDERED in realtime via your Game Console. It is the available setting of the game console that will determine system compatibility.
If you already have the console, and you already have the TV, and it's already hooked up correctly and looks correct, then getting a game from another area won't make any difference.

If you did have to make an adjustment, it would be minor (tweak the Brightness + Contrast up or down--depending on which way you're going).

edit: FulciLives, you got yours posted while I was composing mine. Didn't know about the stupid "Region Lockout" crap. God, I'm getting tired of big companies trying to tell us when/what/how we can or can't buy.

  4. Just a small hint.

If you google: "Xbox mod chip" you will find several chips that unlock the xbox and allow different region discs to play, as well as allowing linux to be installed, etc.

I am not sure if the Xbox 360 versions are out yet, but try a similar google as above.

None of these can be legally "SOLD" in the US, but many companies in Canada carry these. 8) Using them merely voids the warrantee, so nothing "wrong" with using them if you don't care about warantee.

-No sir.... here in Brazil we are PAL-M not PAL (European). And PAL-M is pretty much like NTSC (that's why the "M"), running at the same framerate of 29,97 - BUT with the PAL color palette, correcting that "never twice the same color"
