hello, i'm relatively new to the converting and burning process. self taught most of the things i need to know, and most of the time i'm successful, but i'm having problems with 2 movies. they look and sound great on my computer as AVIs and MPEGs, but when i burn them the picture looks great and the sound goes to crap. totally inaudible, just some sqeakylike static (like a bad drivethrough speaker). i've used multiple programs and downloads...same result ( nero, cucusoft, vcdgear, etc. even tried roxio :-p ).
I have no idea how to convert the video and audio separately, or even which progs to use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
( i know the answer is probably in these forums somewhere, but i'm workin 14 hour days and just don't have the time to search at this point)

You can use virtualdubmod to save the audio out as an uncompressed wav file, then use ffmpeggui to convert it to AC3. You then need an authoring tool that lets you bring audio and video streams together. None of the software you have listed does that, or does it well.

I would suggest, if you don't have the time to learn the tricks that will get you the best outcomes, that you seriously look at ConvertXtoDVD. I use it when I need a fast conversion done that doesn't warrant the care I'd normally use, and it does a pretty good job for what it is. Better than any you have listed so far.

    Hi kingbob69,

    Welcome to the forums.

The first thing that will be useful to know is what the source material is - "AVIs and MPEGs" is a start, but they come in many different varieties.

Usge GSpot v2.52 beta on the files to get the details and post screenshots here. This information will then help with possibly spotting any problems, and also possibly dictate what to do to get you sorted out.
