I've been trying to burn rm files into one dvd, but it was so troublesome converting them. I've searched the net, there's rumor that there's a rmvb plugin for nero so that you can burn rmvb files straight to dvd with nero. I don't know the plugin's name, and I couldn't find it in the net. Is that true?

A quick google produced a lot of links claiming Real Alternative will allow tmpgenc to encode rmvb files. You can find Real Alternative in the Tools section here.

Nero uses directshow so if you have Gabest's splitter and real's codecs installed, then it should work. Same goes for any other app that can use dshow for input such as the above TMPGEnc example.

But then: encode rmvb (which usually is low quality) to DVD with Nero (which is a low quality encoder) - Why?

Make more sense than using a high quality encoder if you ask me. RV9 EHQ is actually capable of decent quality though.

I've tried those programs you guys mentioned, waste too much time converting. I got those codecs installed, but Nero just couldn't directly burn rm into DVD. And you guys still haven't answer my question. "Does nero has a plugin that burns rm files?"

Have you tried searching for a 'Nero plugin pack'? I doubt either Nero or Real would approve of something like that, though.

I've only seen one for converting RealAudio formats. Nothing for RM/RMVB. To be honest, since it's a proprietary format, your best bet probably is indeed to use the other programs mentioned to convert. You can always have the programs convert the files directly to DVD-spec MPEG-2, if you're worried about the conversions.
