I want to use Imageready with a clip that I have, but it won't open the *.mpg file and only seems to be opening *.mov files .

Is there any free tool that can convert from *.mpg to *.mov ? If no free tools are avilable, what else can I use to do this ?

Quicktime Pro, but it's not freeware and should be able to convert to .mov/.qt video.

The latest version of Imageready can apparently handle MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 only. MPEG-2 requires optional QuickTime playback component. Visit the Apple website at www.apple.com/quicktime for details . But that may only be for the full version of IR.

    And welcome to our forums.

Since you're using Linux, you can try ffmpeg or mencoder, I believe.
