Problems in converting dvd to vcd!!!

Hi there..
I'm having a very big problem..
I've been trying for a month to convert my dvds into vcds and I tried so many softwares like Imtoo dvd ripper v2 and Imtoo dvd ripper v4 and easy vcd but when I used Imtoo dvd ripper 2
the converted vcd was very good in resolution but the subtitles were so noisy and so unclear...
so I tried Imtoo dvd ripper 4 and the converted vcd file were so good in resolution and the subs were so clear too and that what made me happy, but when I played back the file and examined it carefully I noticed that there's something wrong in the video like it was too fast some times and normal some times and then it became very fast again and so forth..
and so the files was spoiled totally and the audio was nothing but some strong annoying noises..
the same problem happened in easy vcd...and I don't know what's happening??
why Imtoo dvd ripper 2 converted my dvds correctly and the others didn't??
So what's the problem please??I need some help..
If you know some software that can convert dvd to vcd with a clear subs please tell me..

I found that the latest version of DVDx did a very good job of converting DVD to VCD. I only used it to test the speed of my new computer and because I had trouble with the program for years and wanted to see if i could finally get it to work. I suppose since I don't use VCD's anymore, it worked great. I did not play with subtitles, though.

Dumb question, but with DVD media so cheap, WHY are you bothering with VCD's unless it's not available in local areas?
